Assistive Technology Tools That Benefit ALL Students
Welcome to "Assistive Technology Tools That Benefit ALL Students"
This course is designed to give an overview of assistive technology to teachers so that they have alternative solutions to assist struggling students with curriculum.
Topics include:
Assistive Technology (AT) definition and services
How to obtain an AT evaluation and services
Overview of accommodations/modifications and resources for strategies
AT tools useful in the area of reading, writing and math
Assistive technology helps many students overcome barriers in education. Success comes by correctly matching the individual needs of the student with the appropriate AT tools.It is hoped that through each lesson you will have thought provoking ideas to try in your classroom. Remember it is through trials and reevaluation that we learn what works.
If you are a Polk or Hardee County teacher and are interested in taking this course for 20 in-service credits please email lourdes.day@polk-fl.net (The course will be available starting the Fall of 2008)
Introduction to Assistive Technology
Polk and Hardee county teachers remember, in order to receive credit you must complete the skills check in all four sections (Home, AT for Reading, AT for Writing, AT for Math):
1. Download the PowerPoints for each section
2. Download and complete the skills check in each section. (you currently are in the Home section)
*It may be helpful to print the skills check questions as a reference before going through the PowerPoint.
3. Send ALL four completed skills check documents as attachments in one email to: lourdes.day@polk-fl.net
